Dual Role : Is Chandrababu Naidu trying to take political advantage of the situation?
Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, asked Pro-Telangana leaders of the party to pressurise Congress ministers and MLAs to resign and Andhra-Seema leaders to intensify agitations depending on the situation in Telangana.
Interestingly, Mr Naidu and his family are planning to visit Singapore for a four day trip this weekend while the state remains in turmoil. He will be back 26th morning after celebrating his son Lokesh’s birthday there.
Following the death of MCA student Venugopal Reddy, Mr Naidu postponed party’s politburo meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday.
He also decided to postpone the general body meeting of Telangana TD leaders and workers planned for Thursday in view of bandh.
However, Mr Naidu held discussions with pro-Telangana Telugu Desam leaders to ascertain the progress of agitation for T-State and to chalk out further strategy on Wednesday.
In order to not antagonise Andhra-Seema leaders, Mr Naidu had summoned them on Monday evening.
Mr Naidu seems to have informed the pro-Telangana Telugu Desam MLAs that resignations by TD MLAs and MPs would not force the Centre to carve out a separate state. It would only lead to by-elections.
