Kodandaram’s appeal to T-intellectuals

Telangana political Joint Action Committee (JAC) convener Prof M Kodandaram today criticised the leaders of Andhra-Rayalaseema region, who have been alleging that Maoists are participating in the ongoing Telangana movement.

Speaking at a press conference organised by Telangana Doctorates Association (TDA), Kodandaram said that leaders of Andhra-Rayalaseema should stop making baseless allegations.

“Some leaders of Rayalaseema and Andhra commented that suicides committed by students have got nothing to do with the Telangana movement.

Disturbed over such allegations, a student, Karunakar, ended his life specifically mentioning in his dying declaration that he committed suicide in support of separate Telangana State,’’ Kodandaram said.

Kodandaram had called upon the intellectuals, particularly the Telangana Doctorates Association, to play an active role in Telangana movement.

“Support of intellectuals is essential in any political movement. Lectures and other intellectuals played a crucial role during the 1969 Telangana movement,’’ Kodandaram pointed out.

TDA President Konda Nageshwar said that in the first week of February, a brainstorming session would be organised on Telangana. The TDA has members.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Private Lecturers Association demanded the postponement of intermediate examinations by 15 days. They also demanded that all the answer sheets of students belonging to Telangana region be valuated within Telangana. “If these demands are not accepted, Board of Intermediate will be besieged by Telangana private and government lecturers,’’ Association president P Srinivas Goud said in a press conference.
