Telangana Congress leaders cancel Delhi visit.
Following a direction from the Congress party central leadership, Andhra Pradesh lawmakers belonging to the ruling party from Telangana Tuesday cancelled their visit to Delhi for lobbying for statehood to the region.
The Members of Parliament and Members of Legislative Assembly from Telangana dropped their plans after senior Congress legislators K. Jana Reddy and R. Damodar Reddy returned here Tuesday after cutting short their Delhi visit.
The leaders said they dropped the plans as the central leadership had assured them they would soon take a decision in favour of Telangana.
In Delhi, Congress general secretary in charge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh M. Veerappa Moily asked Telangana MPs and legislators not to rush toDelhi as this would further complicate the issue.
Moily told reporters that party leaders from any region of the state should not come to Delhi in delegations, saying this would have a “cascading” effect and delay a decision on Telangana.
“Our request to leaders of all the regions is to preserve the peace and normalcy established after the Jan 5 meeting and allow us to take a decision,” Moily said.
He also asked party legislators to withdraw their resignations saying this would not help solve the problem. “What will they achieve through resignations? At the most the assembly will be dissolved but this will further delay a decision on Telangana. Even if a bill for formation of Telangana state is introduced in parliament, it has to be sent to the assembly for consultation,” he said.
Telangana leaders will be holding a meeting later in the day to decide their course of action in view of the direction from the central leadership.
As many as 28 out of 50 legislators of the Congress party from Telangana had last month submitted their resignations along with legislators from other parties to the assembly speaker, demanding immediate steps for formation of Telangana state.
The all-party Joint Action Committee (JAC), which also includes Congress, has set Jan 28 as the deadline for the centre to make a clear announcement on Telangana, failing which all MPs and legislators will resign and press for acceptance of the resignations.
The Congress legislators and MPs had on Monday decided to visit Delhi to bring pressure on the party leadership and the government.

Let us not believe our congress leaders. They should get the word from either Sonia or Manmohan not from Veerappa Mioley or some other highcommand chemcha. These leaders are eagerly waiting for some excuse to stop their drama. I hate these politicians.

It is good that they cancelled their visit as this visit would have not brought anything. These people were trying for some face saver. The high comman of Congress traditionally has a discriminatory feeling towards whole southern region in general and AP in particular. Throughout the history be the behavious when PV Narsimha Rao was the PM (he was good or bad or what he planned babri demolition is not the subject here) or the funds allocation to southers state compare to UP and Bihar and MP etc. the lions share is always for these three states rest is kept in rest. Our state leadership never produced a leader who can talk about the rights of the state and state development with the high command. Except M. Chenna Reddy who was eye ball to eye ball with Indira Gandhi and the leadership of that time, but they managed and brought him to his knees. Leave the past, what we got in the last 5 budgets? What our 42 MPs most of them r from Congress were doing? No answer. Every central govt. institution (wherever it is located) has 60-75 percent Biharis, UPites and other north indians and rest is for the whole country. Honestly what % of AP employees in all the defense industries surrounding hyd. city? less than 1% in big position and about 10% in sweeping and cleaning jobs. Why? just bcoz of north indians dominant thinking. Coming to the point, these MLAs will never an appointment of Moily or Chidambaram forget about other big leaders and don't even talk about Sonia or MMSingh. Whatever is to be done is after 48 hrs from now and should be done in the state.

Congress is ready to cheat us again. Neither lobbying nor touching delhi leaders feet will not give Telangana. Only agitation and constitutional crisis will work. Congress leaders go to Delhi and meet some Chamcha leader and come to Hyd to give statement that center is seriously thinking about it. How many years they will think seriously. Another 100 years??
