We’re ready to quit if Congress MLAs too resign: T-TDP legislators

TDP MLAs from Telangana region stuck to their guns that Telangana could be achieved only by creating Constitutional crisis in the State.

They met here today at the TDLP office before attending the JAC meeting where they reiterated their stand.

The TDP MLAs said they were ready to quit their posts provided the Congress MLAs too take a similar course. “Of the 119 MLAs from Telangana, at least 100 MLAs should resign to bring a Constitutional crisis in the State,” a TDP MLA said. However, the TDP MLAs said that they would react only after the Congress’ stand was announced in the JAC meeting. Though, the TDP MLAs refused to speak to the media stating that they would abide by the decisions of the JAC, they decided to drag the ruling Congress into the game. The TDP leaders are of the opinion that it was not a strategy to resign, if the Congress went back.

Meanwhile, around 30 advocates today sought an appointment with TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu to submit a representation to him on the Telangana issue.

The advocates wanted Naidu to spell out his stand on the issue.

Naidu informed them that he allowed his party leaders to take any decision in accordance with the aspirations of the people. But, not satisfied with the reply, the advocates insisted the TD chief to air his view on the T-State. Irked over their attitude, Naidu told them that since they have come to submit the memorandum, asked them not to talk politics. Naidu said that Telangana and Andhra were like two eyes for him. The advocates wondered why was he sailing in two boats at the same time. Angry Naidu left the party office in a huff. The advocates later staged a dharna before NTR Bhavan and raised slogans in favour of Telangana.
