Telangana Congress MPs pulled up by Sonia Gandhi for showing playcards
The Congress High Command is miffed that its own MPs showed playcards in the Parliament yesterday. So much so that Sonia Gandhi has directed her loyalist Ahmed Patel to tick off the MPs.
The Telangana MPs, six of whom wore black shirts, stood up as soon as the president finished her address and Vice President Hamid Ansari was about to deliver the English version. They raised placards which said ‘Jai Telangana, Jai Congress,’ but refrained from any sloganeering.
Soon after the function, the recalcitrant MPs were pulled by Ahmed Patel, political secretary to Congress President Sonia Gandhi for protesting the speech of its own government. The President’s address listed the achievements of the government of the day.
Patel told the Telangana leaders that they were setting a “bad precedent.” He said leaders from the Andhra region would now try out this trick, in their bid for competitive protest. “We raised placards to show our disappointment with the President’s address. We waited for Patil to finish speaking. We found no mention of Telangana in the speech. That is why we showed placards,” said Madhu Yaskhi Goud, Nizambad MP. MP from Pedappalle, G Vivekanand said, “There was no reference to the December 9 announcement in the speech. It was a huge disappointment.” The MPs first paid homage to the Osmania University youth who immolated himself at the Gandhi statue.
Party sources said the MPs were pushed to making a high-profile protest like the one at the President’s address because they were cornered by the massive Telangana lawyers’ rally in Delhi. “They had called all opposition leaders to the rally – Arun Jaitley, Lalu Prasad. The Congress was completely shunned. We were told we could come to the rally only after resigning as MPs,” said Yaskhi.
To counter the impact of the rally, Congress MPs later met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh making a strong pitch for creating the separate state.

This party had fought for India's independance but within the party there is no liberty for the members. Adugulaku madugulottinchu kowadam 'high command' ku alawaate mana naa kodukulaku madugulottadam alawaate. This time just to show the public that they r 'trying their best' they have shown the placards which even not acceptable to this Maharaani and her Chamchaas. Our leaders trying to shed crocodile tears (pls. note just trying), I remember recently a driver of my company (happened to be a Hindu) violated traffic signal and apparently put behind bars for 24 hrs after his return to office the next day he told me that in the jail he met a guy who asked him his offense and later he asked him r u a Muslim (the stranger was a Paksitani) my driver (Rajendra Prasad Khichar) asked me Sir, see we r in the jail but this guy wants to know my religion? why these Pakistanis r like this to remember the religion even in the jail. Our Madhu yashki says since other party leaders were invited by the lawyer they coulnd't do any thing. Can someone ask this 'junk' that what is important? Telangana or his ego? Can he swear and tell us he don't talk to other party leaders? He never shook hands with other than his party ppl? Can he not stand along side for the TRUTH with other than congress party ppl? These guys especially congress and TDP r just playing games nothing else, believe me guys if these ppl r voted again to their positions this time the 'voter' will be telangana traitor.
