Singareni Coal Fields the Most Visible Example of Seema Andhra Exploitation
The Singareni Coal Fields of Telangana spread across the four districts of Karimnagar, Adilabad, Khammam and Warangal supply coal for most of the thermal power stations in S. India. And SCCL (Singareni Collieries Company Limited), the only Navaratna in the Telangana region. There are close to 70,000 workers in the SCCL coal mines across the four districts and in the current financial year it will contribute around Rs.400 crore to the State exchequer. Yet, the Singareni story is also marred by the rampant exploitation, deprivation and selective discrimination that is the hall mark of all Government and PSU’s in the Telangana region.
In the last two decades successive Andhra and Rayalseema Governments have conspired to wrest away this jewel of Telangana. There have been myriad attempts at this in the last 50 years which were foiled by the vigilance of the people and the miners. The latest attempt at this was made just a few months ago, when the Tadicherla coal mines in Karimnagar, part of the Singareni Collieries geological area, were all but sold off to ETA-ECCI-PLR, Joint Venture, a company promoted by Kadapa MP Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy and the AP state forest minister P. Ramachandra Reddy, both hailing from Seemandhra region
The Union coal ministry had allotted the Tadicherla block-1, to APGenco, a Seema Andhra infested, Government turned quasi Private Co, by N. Chandrababu Naidu during his reign as the CM of AP, to meet the coal requirements of Kakatiya Thermal Power Station at Bhoopalpally in Warangal district. SCCL, which by law and economic efficiencies should have been awarded the contract for mining and supply of this coal to APGenco, was forced to opt out of the negotiations and ETA-ECCI-PLR led JV awarded the bid amounting to a whopping Rs.5000 crore for the mining and supply of coal at twice the price, that SCCL charges.
This perfidious act would have hurt Telangana in two ways, one we would have been cheated out of our natural resources today and a few years later, APGenco, would have prepared a report on the financial in viability of continuing with the Bhoopalpally Power Project, and forced its shut down, resulting in loss of livelihood and power supply to the people of Warangal. Had it not been for the current situation, these mines would now be the private property of these Seema Andhra bandits in khadi.
Not only this, there is rampant discrimination against the locals, in these mines, while all the underground miners belong to the Telangana region, and bear the risk of working in hazardous conditions, the plum and safe jobs right from the lowest of the clerical post to the top cadre are occupied by non-locals, ie people from the Seemandhra region. If you had just one word to describe the plunder and injustice meted out to Telangana people in Andhra Pradesh, the answer would be Singareni.

This exploitation is not isolated for Telangana. Even in SA, the Gas is taken away by big guns. I wonder how it is possible to show that it is a unique phenomenon happening in Telangana alone. This is the character of our political class, T or A or entire india.

@ Telanganite – your kind does the biggest disservice to Telangana movement. You club everyone from a beggar who cant do any damage to an MP or CM who do all the mischief as Andhrite and shower abuses. @ Khan – a good point made – one needs to understand that capitalism and democracy in present scenario are essentially exploitative twins for the Rich class. There are no boundaries for greed.
@Telanganaforever – the elite are a class by themselves – they are the same – SA or T. How did a dalit – Venkataswamy &co become so rich? His networth is close to 3000 crores through enterprises in Maharashtra and more than 800 acres near Himayath Sagar. An MP violates Land Ceiling Act!! Just because he is from Telangana – do we turn a blind eye to his misdeeds?

@Telanganite – you are abusive and misguided – but my value system restrains me from responding to your abuse filled response in the same tone. i did say i am neutral in this regard. i support the right of people acting as a democratic movement for T. I said that you cause disservice to movement. think again. be angry against the injustice but use it wisely and direct it against the real culprits. not the common man like me who has got nothing to do with stealing away government jobs, or water or land except for an accent and origin in another part of AP (mind you – not foreign country)

@ Telanganite – If my grandfather died for a movement or for that matter yours, situations would have been different. Law and Order becomes an issue and may be we would have needed permissions. Fortunately or otherwise both our families did not face that situation.
Did I question your right to take out processions? I did not. Your brain cannot fathom reason or logic or language. I objected to your language that is all. You have agreed that hatred is raising. I want to make a point here.
Its our fate that we are fighting for a state, We people only are cause of this situation. since independence of india, we fighted to join INDIA from Hyderabad state, Now this Country cannot even give our state BACK.
while coming to the point opinions, anna umesh, everybody has their own opinion. KCR is not entire telangana, he and his party has their own agenda and plan, but common point in him and us is We are fighting for Telangana. Thats it. Nothing else, he is the person who can make others hear, Our voice. Thats why we support Him.
Violence, Can you tell me which movement was successful with out even a single incident of violence??? You cannot point a single one, because again here Everybody has their own opinion and decision. But still we People of Telangana are fighting peacefully from the last 54 years in various forms.
Yeah there might be many politicians who are rich from Telangana, But what about people who hail from Other than T and are just exploiting us? We are first bothered about the others. For example, mundu nee inti pakkanodni dooram chesi, tarwatha nee inti dongani sari chey.

please dont take them(verbal abusers) serioulsy or personally when some of the telanganites uses abusive language,what can they do?, they are irritated,vexed and tired by the things going on in the state.
Everybody said they dont have any problem until dec 9th for telangana,all of a sudden SA started a counter agitataion against T's sentiments and emotions,they are tend to become aggresive when someone acts or forces T's to do what they dont want to do.
Every T's is upset and morally dejected to see more than 300 people sacrificing thier life for telangana,how can they act patient and keep thier nerves still cool,actualy some people still maintain peace inspite of all these emotional disturbances.
I dont like T's abusing A's,but what should they do if someone is strongly working against thier dream and hope of self respect,sometimes they lose patience,which they shouldnt have,all brains are not built in the same way.
A's and T's are in two different emotional positions now,A'S cant expect T's to act cool and patient,T's cant expect A'S to believe thier self respect logic,self respect is something that you have to be a person to understand how that person feels about it.
please dont take it personally if my T brothers use some abusive language, please forgive them with your big heart.

@Farooq, The cheaters r very clever they use the loop holes of the laws and does the things as per the law. We know till the DNA test not invented the woman was the sole authority to say who is the father of the baby she had concieved. Now the situation is different any claim referred to DNA will prove the truth. BTW, the lands acquired by just not Lagadapati lots of same types used the law points in their favour and took the lands. This is something the pujari is custodian of the temple and he is authorised to do 'daana dharmam' from the temple hundi and the pujari is using his authority as per the 'law' by giving that away to his own people showin them as needy. Since he is authorised his deed cannot be challenged. What we can do is to wait for the formation of Telangana.
