Congress will wash out if it fails to carve Telangana : Harish Rao

Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) politburo member and former MLA T Harish Rao has warned the Congress that the party will be wiped out in the region if separate Telangana was not carved out.

The party leaders have been proudly claiming that it is the Congress which will give or carve out separate State, he reminded.

The party leaders had backtracked on their promises stating that the government would collapse if they resigned and that it would delay in bifurcation of separate State.

The TDP has been taking advantage of the situation and maintaining that it is the ruling party (Congress) which should take the lead in submitting resignations, he said.

Reminding that the TDP leaders had declared their support to separate State and even expressed readiness to resign from their posts for the cause, Rao said it was unfair on the part of the TDP leaders, who had taken a Uturn, to criticise the TRS leaders for reisgning from their posts.

He demanded that the TDP chief make his stand on Telangana clear.

Addressing newspersons here today, the TRS leader said the Centre has bowed to the pressure by TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao who got ready to sacrifice his life for the cause of Telangana and delivered the December 9 statement in favour of separate State.

But the Seemandhra leaders did not allow the people of Telangana celebrate the joy for long.

They obstructed the carving out of Telangana by submitting their resignations, he criticised and lamented that the Congress and TDP leaders in the region did not have such feelings as their counterparts in Andhra.

“It is unfortunate that leaders of all political parties are holding the TRS chief responsible if they are obstructed at any place in Telangana,’’ he said.

The TDP leaders, he alleged, were criticising the TRS chief and party leaders only at the behest of party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu.
