Expel Jagan and Lagadapati from Congress : Telangana MPs
In an indication of growing resentment against Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy nine Congress MPs from Telangana region have demanded his expulsion from the party for undisciplined behaviour. They also opined that Lagadapati Rajagopal, should also be suspended as he was supporting Jagan and adding fuel to fire.
The members of Lok Sabha, who met in Hyderabad, came down heavily on Jagan for going against the high command’s direction and trying to conduct his “Odarpu Yatra” or condolence tour in Telangana region, leading to violence and unrest in the region.
Sarve Satyanarayana, spokesman of the group of MPs, told the media in Hyderabad after the meeting that they suspect Jagan’s intentions behind conducting the yatra. “We suspect a deep conspiracy involving many other leaders. We don’t agree that this is an individual matter of Jagan,” he said.
The group of MPs, including Ponnam Prabhakar, Madhugoud Yashki, Rajaiah, M. Jagannadham, Balram Naik, Gutta Sukhinder Reddy, K. Rajagopal Reddy, Sarve Satyanarayana and G. Vivekananda, has decided to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi and brief her about the situation and the activities of Jaganmohan Reddy.
They questioned the rationale behind Jagan going on a “condolence yatra” almost nine months after his father Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s death. On the claim of Jagan that more than 600 people had died of shock following his father’s death in a helicopter crash, Sarve Satyanarayana said: “Even after the death of great leaders like Indira Gandhi, so many people had not died.”
The concerted attack on Jagan from Telangana MPs has come a day after senior AICC leader and finance minister Pranab Mukherji made the high command’s displeasure against Jagan public.
Pranab Mukherji said that if Jagan did not cancel his yatra immediately, action would be taken.
“It would have been better if he had abided by the suggestions of Congress leadership and did not go on the yatra”, he said.
As we know, Jagan was arrested by the state police when he was on the way to Mahbubabad in Warangal district on Friday.
