We will help Congress win in bypolls if they make time-bound statement over T-State : TRS

Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhara Rao’s son and former MLA Taraka Rama Rao has said TRS wouldn’t contest coming byelections in Telangana region, if the Congress makes any time-bound statement over statehood for Telangana.

“Moreover, we will work for the victory of Congress candidates by motivating people to vote for them,’’ he added.

Speaking to mediapersons at the Press Bhavan here today, he launched a scathing attack on the Congress for deciding to contest bypolls. “It is shameful on part of the party and its dual stance on the issue was exposed once again,’’ the TRS leader pointed out.

He recalled that some Congress leaders had assured the TRS that they wouldn’t contest byelections when some TRS MLAs resigned from their positions in support of Telangana. “They even promised to work for their victory. Where did their commitment go,’’ he sought to know.

He exuded confidence that the people would re-elect all the leaders, including BJP candidate in Nizamabad, who resigned from their positions in 12 Assembly constituencies.

“After failing to convince their high command on Telangana issue, now they have geared up to defeat TRS candidates. It is ridiculous as it would send wrong signal to Samaikyandhra leaders,’’ he averred. He brushed aside dynastic politics in TRS saying Congress party was known for it.

Referring to PCC chief D Srinivas’ decision to contest from Nizamabad, he said people would teach him a fitting lesson by defeating him once again. “He failed to convince the high command to get a Rajya Sabha nomination and now thinking of becoming an MLA,’’ he pointed out.

MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao and TRS state secretary Sardar Ravinder Singh were present.
