Telangana bypolls: Tough challenge for Congress, TDP
Against the backdrop of a strong agitation for separate statehood, the ruling Congress and the major opposition Telugu Desam Party face a tough challenge in the coming bypolls to 12 assembly seats in Telangana region.
The by election to the 12 seats, which should be held before mid-August as per law, has been necessitated as the sitting MLAs – 10 from TRS and one each from Congress and BJP – quit their posts in support of separate Telangana demand.
The two major parties were in a dilemma over fielding their candidates in the wake of demands from the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) and other pro-Telangana outfits to unanimously elect those who quit.
However, a three-cornered contest among Congress, TDP and
TRS appears inevitable as the ruling party has already announced it will indeed fight the elections though some party leaders like CWC member K Keshava Rao were not in favour of it.
State Congress president D Srinivas met party chief Sonia Gandhi yesterday and announced later that the Congress would indeed fight the elections.
“We will definitely contest the elections. The high command has asked me to expedite the preparations,” he said.
TDP has indicated that it will field its candidates if Congress did so.
TRS expects a smooth sailing as the bypolls are being held in the aftermath of the fast-unto-death undertaken by its president K Chandrasekhar Rao and subsequent emotional agitation for separate Telangana.
The sub-regional party has hinged its hopes on the “Telangana sentiment” for ensuring victory and the test for the party is to see that all its 10 candidates who quit are re-elected comfortably.
The members of the Telangana JAC and students of Osmania
University have been actively campaigning for the victory of those who resigned from the seats.
JAC convener M Kodandaram has written an open letter to
the Congress and TDP not to field their nominees and urged the
people to vote for candidates who resigned for the sake of
Telangana.
Congress and TDP leaders, however, alleged that the JAC is an extension of the TRS. The JAC now comprises only the TRS
and some pro-Telangana outfits. While Congress had walked out
of the JAC, the TDP was expelled from the committee.
Seeking to gain a headstart in the campaign, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao has alleged that the Congress and TDP are not sincere in their commitment to the Telangana cause.
“Congress and TDP leaders did not quit their posts in the first place. Now, they want to contest the bypolls and dilute the statehood demand by forcing a contest,” Rao charged.
The ruling party leaders indicated that they will go to the people with the slogan that Telangana is possible only with the Congress.
TDP, which has a strong support base in Telangana, is yet to reveal its strategy for the bypolls.

Let tdp/congress contest the by-polls.in our set all have a right to partake in the process.now it is upto the ppl whom to return to the assembly and whom not.this can make tdp/congress realise where they stand with regard to this burning problem of the ppl.they will not get their deposits.if it is so then they will say telangana sentiment is strong,and if they win a seat or two they will say, see there is no T sentiment.

the real problem from Andhras is in finding a suitable capital city for them. Uttarandhra people won't accept Tirupati bcoz it's too far for them and Seema people won't accept Vizag for the same reason. The mid point Vijayawada-tenal-Guntur lands are fertile and very costly and almost of it is private land. So those people don't wants to sacrifice their private lands for paltry package that government offers them towards the land that it aquires to construct a capital. Finding enough government land that is mid way and also acceptable to all of the SeemaAndhra people is their real problem. That's why they want Hyd. Not bcos they luv it, but it's their self compulsion.

@All, These SAs are very clever or may be very cunning, they have long stopped referring the PSRs suicide, as they doesn't want to give us any chance to attack them bcoz that gentleman had killed himself in the lust of Madras (we all know the central govt. of that time had announced the separation but this man was for Madras to be with him/them in the new state). All the SAs knew that the state of Telangana is already declared and the details are being gathered by this SKC to be used to allocate budgets and assets and liabilities divide between the two states. Whatever our SA friends trying to show here is their frustration by using any single word or sentence and most of the time they comment on the comment NEVER on the article which suppose to be the base of comment. They claim they are better than Ts in every aspect of life but I haven't seen their intelligence, sincerity, honesty, soberness and to the point discussion YES THEY ARE EXPERTS IN TWISTING WORDS, MEANINGS and diverting the discussion this is what called the VAKCHATURYAM. Need not be… Army has responded when terrorists were holed up in Golden temple. They have responded during Mumbai attacks. When someone talks the languge of terrorists and takes the nation hostage with their demands for separatism and disintegration based on lies and hatred towards fellow Indians, when someone uses violence to attack other Indians, artists, businesses, army will provide direct and proxy support to enforce law and national unity.

Rachakonda is an obscure place now in the district of Nalgonda barely about 60 KM from the twin cities. The place is hilly terrain full of boulders and stones and at present it is a strong hold of Maoist armed communists. Once this remote hamlet was the capital of Velama kings who ruled in 14 Th and 15 Th centuries while their kin ruled at Deverakonda, another important place in the District. Singama Naika a Velama scion who ably supported Prolaya Naika and Kapaya Naika in their fight aginast the Muslim Governor Malik Maqbool who was the Governor at Warangal founded the ruling dynasty of Rachakonda. Mohd Bin Tughlaq, The Sultan at Delhi renamed Warangal as Sultanpur under his Governor after he captured the Kakateeya kingdom in 1323. Prataparudra II was captured by the Delhi Sultan inspite of valiant fight and he committed suicide while he was being taken away to Delhi. Hindu confederation troops led by Kapayya Naika, Singama Naika, Prolaya Vema Reddy of Addanki and Veera Ballala of Karnataka defeated and drove away Muslims from entire Telangana and Kapayya was accepted as the successor to Kakateeya kingdom by 75 chieftains. This unity did not last long and internal rivalries resulted in Singamanaika declaring independence at Pillalamarri in Mahboob Nagar District. Subsequently he shifted the capital to Rachakonda also known as Rajadri. He placed his brother at Deverakonda as the ruler and this family was loyal to Rachakonda Rulers throughout its rule. His son Anapota Naika succeeded Singamanaika and he fought bitterly with Kapayya Naika and he succeeded in defeating him in a battle at Bhimavaram near Warangal and Kapayya was killed in the battle. Kapayyas son Vnayakadeva was earlier killed by Mahmood Shah I, the Bahmani Sultan in a battle earlier. With this Velamas gained control over Telangana and ruled for nearly 100 years. Some of these Velama kings were highly learned and patronized literature. Sarvagna Singa Bhoopala honored poet Srinadha of Kondaveedu.
Velamakings of Rachakonda ably supported by their brothers at Deverakonda fought tooth and nail with the Reddy rulers of Kondaveedu and the kings of Vijayanagar.In these battles, they took help of Bahmani Sultans and Telangana became a regular battleground for these frequent wars. These Velama rulers absolutely had no national outlook and colluded with Muslim rulers of Gulbarga for gaining supremacy and for settling their personal scores. In these political and selfish intrigues, the velama kings finally became vassals of Gajapathi Kings of Orissa and at last lost the power to Bahmani sultans. There is an interesting legend regarding the fall of Rachakonda.
In the closing years of Velama supremacy in Telangana, the dynasty produced a worthless ruler at Rachakonda who was a tyrant, highly suppressive and too cruel. He deviced ways and means to bring shame to his subjects. He deviced a peculiar way of taxation. He got manufactured metallic cups of various sizes that were similar to the shapes of female breasts. These cups were sent to all the ladies of the kingdom and the breasts were measured by the size of the cups fitting correctly. The ladies have to pay tax by filling the cups with silver coins. The soldiers of the king conducted this shameful act. There was great indignation in the kingdom. On one occasion, the king’s soldiers approached a house in Rachakonda and the ladies of the house had to pay the tax as per the practice. When the soldiers approached a lady, she pulled out a knife and cut off her breast and threw at the soldiers. She cried and cursed the king that the Velama kings would be ruined soon and they would never be the rulers in this land. She soon died and got transformed into a stone statue. The statue lying in a nearby forest is believed to be the transformed lady. The curse of the pious woman soon had the effect and Velama kings lost the kingdom to the Muslims. The dynasty became extint The members of the dynasty could not recover their kingdom and they served Vijayanagar kings as petty commanders and served in the Vijayanagar Army. Centuries passed. But the Velama community could not get kingship at any place. Although they ruled at Bobbili in 18 Th Century, it was a very small principality and the ruler Rangaraya was only a zamindar. He too lost power to the Raja of Vijayanagaram at the battle of Bobbili in 1757. At the closing years of Vijayanagar Empire, Jaggaraya at Chadragiri murdered Emperor Ranga Raya II along with his wife and children. Yachamanaika who was a Velama scion was the most powerful chieftain of the time and he could usurp the throne for himself had he wished. But wisdom and destiny prevailed on him and he was loyal to the fallen emperor and with the help of Tanjavur king Raghunatha Naika he fought and killed Jaggaraya at Topur battle in 1615. Ramadeva Raya who was young and survived the murders was placed on the throne. The curse continues as per the legend and in AP politics too, Velama community hardly plays a role although Jalagam Venkat Rao was a chief Minister for a short time. His son has no back up. Chadrasekhar Rao a Velama leader who was once with Telugu Desam parted ways with Chadrababu Naidu and had to form a separate party spearheading agitation for a separate Telangana like his predecessors who fought always against the interests of greater Telugu interests and unity for self elevation and ruined the regions interests in 14 and 15 Th centuries. They are again at the old game. If the curse continues, as proved he would not get power as contemplated and Telangana would be a mere myth or dream as it is proving to be. The curse is too powerful to be brushed aside and as centuries of history have proved, the community would not get power. Seemandhra people are not aware of Telangana history nor the reason for name Veera Telangana.
If they feel they are deciders to grant statehood for telangana, they can be called the Biggest fools on this earth.
Telangana always gained freedom by struggle and fight but never with mercy of any one. Civil war will be imminent as SA will play all dirty tricks till the last and SA will have to bow down like Nizam one day.

These is tonnes of such BAKWAS stuff posted in various sites satisfying different groups of people. History is always History but drawing illogical conclusions out of this is utter FOOLISHNESS.
Telangana state is primary goal for all Telanganites, what will be the caste of CM no one cares. KCR has always promised a Dalit will be the CM of Telangana, never once he wished to occupy CM chair.
This is one more Foolish and dirty trick of SA to create disunity among Telanagana by raking up caste issues. Till telangana is formed all Telanganites have only one Religion and caste ie "TELANGANA".

This fake story of Col prabhakar clearly shows their divide and rule policy based on caste. His ultimate conclusion from the story is Telangana will ever be a dream and never a reality. Agreed he wants to talk crap about Velama caste but why should he mention about telangana as part of this. These andhrites are the worst breed I have ever seen in my life.they do anything for money and power.
