Justice Prevails : EC asked to hold by-elections in Sircilla and Vemulawada

The Andhra Pradesh High Court Wednesday asked the Election Commission to hold by-elections to two assembly seats in Telangana along with 10 other seats going to polls July 27.

The court passed the orders on a petition by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) challenging the decision of the Election Commission not to hold by-polls to Sircilla and Vemulawada assembly constituencies in view of some election petitions pending in the court.

The Election Commission June 21 announced an election schedule for 10 assembly seats but not in these two seats.

TRS general secretary K. Yadagiri Reddy said in his petition that the Election Commission had no power to defer the by-elections.

The petition pointed out to the court that the elections can be put off only if the situation is not conducive to holding them or if the general elections were scheduled within a year.

He argued that once the speaker of an assembly declares a seat as vacant and conveys this to the Election Commission, it becomes the statutory duty of the election panel to conduct the polls within six months.

The seats fell vacant in February after all 10 legislators of TRS and one each of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Telugu Desam Party resigned over the demand for separate statehood to Telangana region.

TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao’s son K. Tarakarama Rao was elected from Sircilla constituency in last year’s elections by a thin majority of 171 votes. A petitioner has claimed that the votes were not counted properly.

In Vemulawada, Ch. Ramesh of TDP was elected but a contestant filed a petition contending that Ramesh was not a citizen of India.

  1. TRS to move court over deferring elections in two assembly seats
  2. Election Commission may decide to hold byelections only in nine out of 12 Assembly seats
  3. No Takers For Sircilla Assembly Ticket in TDP
  4. Court dismisses plea to defer Telangana by-polls
  5. Telangana By Polls To Be Held On 27 July – Election Commission
  6. TDP probables for Telangana bypolls
  7. Ensure Zero Nominations for May 2010 by Elections in Telangana
  8. Congress announces eight candidates for Telangana by-polls

Come on Telanganites, this is one more opportunity in addition to the 10 earlier announced constituencies, show your power to the traitors by electing those resigned for T. No single vote should go anywhere outside, PLEASE ACCEPT any gift, money, madira or any other sort of offers from the congress and tdp but when you go to vote just VOTE for TRS. Consider for a short while TRS is Telangana and Telangana is TRS and vote for the party.

TRS is going to win all seats..No doubt about that. T-people are aware of all traits exhibited by all T cong, tdp leaders after dec 9th. They definately not in a mood to trust any of these idiots. This election will be an eye opener to everyone, local, non local, state level, national level..everywhere. So, T-people, let’s go and vote. Every vote to TRS will get us closer to our dream. i.e our own state ruled by our own people.

Jai KCR, Jai TRS, Jai telangana.

News from a eminent Telangana leader (Ponnam) is that “Harish Rao was behind this conspiracy”. He wants to safeguard his position in the party by putting a check to KTR and Kavitha.

I am voting for Congress and I recommend voting for Cong/BJP as vote for TRS is waste of taxpayer money. They will resign again to prove ‘SOMETHING’ and does NOT change anything. There will be NO focus on development and every day will be used to create division and hatred among people. Only cong and BJP can stop TRS’s civil war.

@Suresh, Gautam and others who oppose T.
Brothers, See the comment of Suresh how it is liked by the people of T. This is the stand of every Telanganaite we DO NOT TOLERATE anti T remarks at the same time WE ACCEPT and COMMEND anything / anybody favouring T irrespective of his past present and future.
This is the real honest of the people of T towards the state. This is what I have said repeatedly, I admire anybody who supports T nothing else nothing more.

Parties (Congress and TDP) who collude to defeat Telangana voice, will loose their deposits is the prime objective of this elections and a stern caveat to anti-telanganites or SA rulers.

@Krishna

What changes we can except if we vote Congress? corruption is the only one I can feel.

Everytime only KCR is proactive for telangana, like now going to court for two assembly seats. Here we should understand EC listen to corrupted congress party.

EC and police departments never dare to take an action on MIM leaders, today a FIR has been booked on Vijayasanthi’s statement.
