No Takers For Sircilla Assembly Ticket in TDP

After witnessing the mass exodus of leaders and cadre to Telangana Rashtra Samiti in the Sircilla Assembly constituency, The Telugu Desam Party is facing a piquant situation over the selection of a suitable candidate for the Sircilla Assembly constituency where the by-election will be held along with other 11 Assembly constituencies in Telangana. No leader from the party is interested in contesting from the constituency fearing the voter backlash. The party has already announced the names of candidates for three out of the five Assembly constituencies in the district which will go to the polls on July 29. It has already finalised the candidature of former minister Muddasani Damodar Reddy from Huzurabad, Shikari Viswanath from Korutla and Dr Nakka Narayana from Dharmapuri.

The Telugu Desam Party is in a dilemma over whom to field against the son of TRS president Mr. K. Chandrashekhar Rao from Sircilla. The sitting MLA, Mr K. Tarakarama Rao, who resigned from the Assembly for Telangna is the candidate of TRS once gain from this constituency.

Except for Mr Annamaneni Narsinga Rao, no one is aspiring for the party ticket here. The party had already witnessed a mass exodus when several TDP leaders and cadre in the constituency resigned and joined the TRS in large numbers; sources say that there will be more exodus of party cadre in the near future. Party sources said that the party consider Mr Narsinga Rao as a weak candidate against KTR and that he will not give a tough fight to the TRS.

Meanwhile, TDP district convenor Mr Chintakunta Vijaya Ramana Rao said that the party will decide the candidate for the Vemulawada seat in the next one or two days. The party favourite is former MLA Chennadi Sudhakar Rao for the Vemulawada seat.
