BJP and TRS urge Election Commission to take action against DS

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday urged the Election Commission (EC) to take a serious view of the controversial statements made by APCC chief D Srinivas since the issue of election notification to the byelections.

BJP MP M Venkaiah Naidu wanted the EC to take a similar view of the statements made by Srinivas as was done in the case of TRS MP Vijayashanti and Sangareddy Congress MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy. He wanted the EC to act firmly against Srinivas as he got away even after making controversial statements without attracting the EC’s attention, earlier too. He urged the EC to declare Nizamabad Urban as a sensitive area and appoint additional officers to oversee polling in the constituency.

Meanwhile, Telangana Jagruti president K Kavita submitted a memorandum to the EC demanding action against APCC chief D Srinivas for making controversial and objectionable statements over the past ten days to lure voters. She urged the EC to reject Srinivas’ application as he has been luring voters in the name of cast, false assurances and invoking the name of the Srikrishna Committee.

Meanwhile, former BJP chief Bandaru Dattatreya urged the voters of Nizamabad Urban to once again endorse the candidature of their party nominee E Lakshmi Narayana and teach the APCC chief a lesson that nothing was more important than Telangana. “I request the voters of Nizamabad Urban constituency to defeat Congress president D Srinivas and send a strong message to the AICC president about their strong resolve to achieve Telangana state,” he said at a media conference.
