Naidu flies back. So, what has he achieved out of Babli yatra?

Four days after the TDP chief’s arrest, the Maharashtra government on Tuesday dropped charges against him. Home Minister RR Patil said, “We had detained him for unlawful assembly in Dharmabad, there is no reason to keep him in custody endlessly.”

Naidu was initially very adamant that he will not go back without inspecting the Babhli Dam project. But, surprisingly, his fighting spirit died down and after a small drama at the airport, he boarded the 100-seater Air India plane arranged for them by the Maharashtra government. Once at the Hyderabad airport, Naidu & Co. got a huge welcome by his party men as if they were returning after winning a war.

According to sources within the TDP, the cadre feel that Naidu should have stayed there for some more days which would work in party’s favor in the coming Telangana by-polls. They also feel that, with 6 more days to go for the bypolls, people may forget about the Babli issue and all that Naidu has done would go in vain.

The Maharastra government also seems to have got sick of Naidu’s attitude and decided to send him back. First, Naidu ignored the warnings of the Maharastra government. Later, once arrested, he started complaining about the facilities provided to them. As if this was not enough, he refused the bail twice.

In all, looks like Naidu has not gained much with his bus yatra to Babli. Congress party is now getting ready to expose the emptiness of this yatra.
