It’s not Gandhigiri. It’s Andhragiri!

A majority of the educational institutions in Andhra and Rayalaseema regions of the State remained closed on Monday in response to a bandh call given by the so called Samaikhya Andhra Parirakshana Samithi to protest the alleged attack on lecturers by students in Hyderabad and Nalgonda. They said that their protest was taken up in Gandhigiri style and once again, the andhra media was quick to publicize it.

But, please do not belittle Gandhiji while what you have done is Andhragiri.

We have seen Gandhigiri and Dadagiri. So, what is Andhragiri?

Gandhigiri is a term used to express the tenets of Gandhism (the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi which include Satyagraha, non-violence, and truth) in contemporary terms. The term became popular due to its usage in the 2006 Hindi film, Lage Raho Munna Bhai.

Dadagiri means just the opposite — bullying around, spreading violence and in other words, what is usually seen happening around us.

Andhragiri is a new transformation of Dadagiri used to suppress, loot, bully, and take advantage of Telanganites. This is exactly what they have been doing ever since the merger happened. They not only suppressed us but also looted our lands, jobs, water, and what not?

Andhragiri is about following what Telanganites do or to do something in contrast. Take the recent example, When Telangana leaders resigned, their leaders too resigned. When we talk about Telangana State, they talk about Samaikyandhra. When we put up JACs to fight for Telangana, They too came up with Samaikyandhra JACs.

Andhragiri is also about belittling Telanganites or the Telangana movement. Until the bypoll results were announced, Andhrites left no stone unturned to prove that the Telangana movement dosen’t exist at all.

Andhragiri would also mean showing Telanginites in poor light. Be it in movies, or making a mockery of our slang, they have always tried to potray Telanganites as uncivilized people.

What else do you think is Andhragiri?
