TRS to adopt Gandhian way to achieve Telangana state

The TRS today said a “non- cooperation movement in the Gandhian way” would be launched to put pressure on the Centre towards granting statehood to Telangana after the Srikrishna Committee submits its report by this year-end. “Since the Centre has appointed the Srikrishna Committee, we have given a report to it.

We waited for so many years and we thought we could wait for some more time. We hope a positive outcome would come after the committee submits report by December 31,” TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao told a gathering at the party office here.

“Whatever is the recommendation of the committee, we shall put pressure on the Centre. We will take up a non- cooperation movement in the Gandhian way so that everything comes to a standstill,” he said.

The TRS chief has been talking of a “civil war” after the five-member panel, set up early this year, submits its report. The former Union Minister has, however, clarified that civil war does not mean that people would take up arms, but an atmosphere of anger and hurt would prevail in the region.
