Is it Telangana Veleena Dinotsavam or Vimochana Dinotsavam?
Strong debate has been going on these days about this topic. Should September 17th be called as Vileena Dinam or Vimochana Dinam? But, one fails to understand why this has gained so much importance? How does it really matter? All we are trying to do is to celebrate the freedom of Telangana.
It is like two sides of the same coin. While it was Vimochana(Liberation) from the Nizam’s monarchy rule(doesn’t matter if it was good, bad, or indifferent. Under Nizam many bad things happened as well as many good things. Fondness depends on which side it is being looked at and by whom), it was Vileenam(union) into free democratic India at the same time.
So, instead of worrying about what it should be called, we should salute all those thousands of people who have laid their lives in the Telangana Liberation Movement. India and Telangana have got independence on two different days. So, it should not bother anyone if we Telanganites celebrate it. After all, its a very significant day in the history of Telangana.

Exactly. It does not matter with what name you celebrate it.It is commemoration of freedom of Telangana people, earned after inestimable sacrifices. It is because of’kullubothu’ andhras, trying to pick hair on the surface of an egg. These people have no respect for the heroic
struggle of fellow telugu people, which has the admiration of many people from all over the world. We need not heed this
senseless debate. No need to separate this synanymous vocabulary. If some stupid andhras dont understand this, there is no need for us to be contrite about it.

Sep, 17th Vomichana dinama? Ledha vileena dinama? Ante definitely this one is ‘Vileena Dinam’ matrame..
Telangana region merged in to Indian Union by force. It happened without the acceptance of Telanganites. We have not liberated till date from the clutches of ‘Dopididarulu”, like Zamindars, Deshmukhs, Razakars, Nizam and Seemandhras.
Whenever we got total freedom and the power should be rested with Telanganites, then only we can celebrate ‘Telangana Vimochana Dinam”
But we should celebrate September, 17th to remember thousands of our great leaders who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana starting from Doddi Komuraiah and srikantha Chary….
Jai Telangana…

I was born and brought up at Hanamkonda in the district of Warangal. I was born in 1938 and have first hand experience through the 2nd World War, Idia's Independence move ment , the RAZAKAR MOVEMENT and the 1948 Police Action and the miraculous salvation to millions of Telugu people from the clutches of the fundamentalist despot, the Nizam. Although Telugu people were the overwhelming majority and the original natives of the illegal kingdom, we were forced to study in Urdu Medium in our schools and clleges. Our seniors who were studying F.A.. in the colleges were force to wear the Muslim Sherwani, compulsorily. The first alphabet that we learnt were Alef, Be', Pe' and to this day we cannot speak or write Telugu properly.
Not many of the distinguished people in the discussion panel on the hmtv 's 'Dasa Disa' programme were present during the Razakar movement, much less in the so-called Nizam's Statae, to witness the atrocities perpetrated against non-Muslims by the Nizam backed Razakars. My brother and I used to watch from behind the relative safety of a mission hospital compound wall what used to go on in the streets. We used to watch Sword swaying Arabs shouting in Arabic and running through the streets in large groups. We watched lorry loads of dead bodies being brought from the Warangal area where most of the killings of non-Muslims took place, to the Government Hospital for postmortem !
It was rumored that all the non-Muslilms in the nizam's state would be killed on the night of 17th September 1948. many fled to safer places, including the entire hospital staff in the 150 bedded Mission Hospital at Hanamkonda, excepting my father a doctor and a few male nurses. That night sardar vallabhai Patel sent the Indian Army into the state and most of the Razakars were taken care of. but for that, I would not be alive to-day to write this note . Next morning all the people and all of us children went out into the streets to welcome the army that was going through the the streets on trucks, shouting Jai Hind , Mahatma Gandhi ki Jai, Jawaharlal Nehru ki Jai and Sardar Vallabhai Patel ki Jai. We were no more afraid to go out into the streets anymore.
Having read this, you the reader decide what you would like to call this day.

@ John Prabhakar Garu,
Very touching Sir. It is indeed Vimochana dinam and we can also call it vileena dinam as we merged in to India. In either way we got liberated from monark rule. It is definately a liberation day as our region embraced to a democratic rule. It is definately a significant day. It took 30 years to know the truth about my region and what my ancestors have gone through from people like you or from some recent articles or blog. I'm constantly being puzzled for quite some time now, why there is not much information about telangana history, telangana warriors who fought against Razakars or for that matter telangana poets in my history books. I Came to know last year that we were never under direct british rule( call me my ignorance but they did not teach me in school history books). There was not even a single lesson in history books about Telangana( or is it me who playing dumb, correct me if I'm wrong..Frankly speaking, all I remember now is, Potti sriramulu, Andhra kesari, alluri sitarama raju and atla taddi) . Wow ..wasn't it a crime for keeping children away from the real history. Wasn't it a crime to distort the facts. I heard dynasty rulers or dicatators would suppress the truth but how come it happend in my own backyard. In my own INDIA.Disgusting!!!… I have no respect for SA people if they done this deliberately. Awful……….Well coming to September 17th, Whatever people call this day but the real independence day will be the day we get our own state. That is TELANGANA. So let's not debate about the days and celebrations until we achieve our state. After that trust me, everyday will be a lndependence day. I hope Dr John Prabhakar garu Agrees with me on this.
Thank you once again sir, Very inspiring.
Jai Telangana..

@ John Prabhakar Garu,
tears rolled of my eyes when i was reading the tale narrated by you. all the telanganites are in such an ignorance that we were never taught of our own history or what happened before our time on the telangana land. what ever sree said was absolutely true. we were kept in ignorance and kept us away from the truth. its time that every telanganite like you should spend sometime to write and record the history of the land of telangana as witnessed by the eyes of people like you. and this should stand as testament to shut the mouths of every ass hole who claims that nizam was a good ruler. Tales like this are a great inspiration for people like me bolstering our confidence in taking a step towards our independence. please Sir i sincerely request you to record all the events of your time pertaining to telanagana movement and post them on SIMPLY TELANGANA so that every telanganite can get their dosage of anger and confidence to drive the SA dogs and all alikes from my mother land. i also request RAJ NEWS to air programmes that lead to the events that had took place during the rule of nizams so that every telanganite can open their eyes to the bitter truth.
