Gayam 2 shows Telangana Movement in poor light.

I happened to have watched Gayam 2 movie today. I wanted to watch it on the first day itself as I loved Gayam-1 and couldn’t stop myself to watch its sequel. I booked the tickets early this morning on bookmyshow.com and went to watch the movie at INOX.

Soon I realized that the movie was boring and a complete dud. But, as the second part started, I was shocked to see the movie’s striking resemblance to the Telangana Movement. This definitely cannot be a coincidence. The makers of this movie seem to have deliberately made an attempt to belittle the Telangana movement. The incidents showed in the movie very much match the ones that have recently happened at Osmania University. It’s a shame that the people behind this movie tried to make a mockery of Yadaiah and Ishant Reddy’s sacrifice.

In one scene, student pours petrol on himself as a protest but, suddenly, someone lights a match stick from behind and the poor student is set on fire. This definitely will make us recall those sad moments when a soldier of ours immolated himself for the cause of Telangana. But, the way this incident has been shown in the movie has certainly made my heart heavy. They have no right to show something like this.

Alright. Let’s consider that it’s just a coincidence for the moment. Scenes like this have been shown in various movies in the past. But, as the movie catches its momentum, all the scenes make you feel as if you are watching the Telangana movement at its peak. It makes you feel that the incidents that happened earlier this year are right before you but, in poor light.

In another scene, a student is being beaten badly by the goondas and is made to write a suicide note. The goondas plan to get it signed by the student and later set him on fire and throw his body on campus which they think would stir up the agitation against the government. This once again makes us recall Ishant Reddy who sacrificed his life for the cause of Telangana. By this time I was sure that this is a deliberate attempt.

Furthermore, they tried to show that the Telangana movement was not an outbust of the people in response to the injustices done to them but, as a political gimmick.

Kotasrinivas Rao has been shown as one who is desperate to grab CM gaddi. They seem to have tried to relate Kota’s character to that of KCR. They even tried to show KCR’s nirahara deeksha as a political stunt and just a play to grab CM’s seat.

This movie should not have been allowed to be released in first place. They have played with the sentiments of people.
